"Winter Raven" by Judith Phelps was inspired by the book, Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey.
In the Snow Child, a child loses their red scarf, and a line from it says, "Ravens... and other wild birds had been known to snatch things." This sentence lit the creative spark in Judith to create the quilt. It was made using appliqué, some paint and some thread painting, with the scarf being three-dimensional, and it is an original design made on a domestic machine.
