This is a quilt design of curvy log cabin blocks with 4 silk Dresdens (silk is from silk ties) machine appliquéd.
I was inspired by Alex Anderson's live segment on creating quilts from silk ties. My collection of silk ties includes many my attorney father wore along with some from my husband, neighbor and many from thrift shops. The pieced cotton background is comprised of a curvy log cabin pattern which was inspired by a loose feaf press pattern. I found that silk is quite a challenge to work with! However, inspired by Susan Cleveland's Dresden techniques, I created the rings with foundation which worked out quite well.
