This is a quilt collage with raw edge applique with hand dyed and some commercial fabrics.
This quilt's subject is a great blue heron looking around at the city in the distance and wondering what is ahead. To me it brings up questions of habitat loss and its impact on these magnificent creatures. Our local quilt group Rocky Mountain Creative Quilters (RMCQ) just held a fabric dye day. Most of the fabrics are from this workshop and others. The city fabric is a silk screen by Dorothy Udall.
