Volcano Bombs

"Volcano Bombs" by Roberta Lagomarsini was featured as part of the Abstract category at Road to California 2023.

Artist Statement: "The Owens Valley has a long history of volcanic activity, with several volcanos that are not active but not extinct meaning they could possibly erupt in the future and show some signs of activity such as releasing gases, Mammoth Mountain being one such example. A Volcanic Bomb is pyroclastic rock that is a cooling of a mass of lava as it flies through the air after eruption. If it is to be called a bomb, specimens must be larger than 2 mm (5 inches)."
