Value Does the Work

Value Does the Work

A group of us are working our way through Carolyn Friedlander's book "Savor Each Stitch". I made this study in contrast for the CONTRAST chapter. The design used a 9-step gradation from white to black (hand dyes from Caryl Bryer-Fallert-Gentry purchased years ago). The shades are arranged following a carefully planned and very regular grid layout. I am amazed at how different things look depending on what they are next to. In the end, I could not resist putting in a little splash of color (which of course gets all the credit even though it hardly did any work). Assembly was done using Caryl Bryer-Fallert-Gentry's applique piecing method. More details are here: http://susieturn.blogspot.com/2015/05/value-does-work.html
