"Unscripted" by Sarah Ruiz and others won First Place in the Group or Bee category at Quiltcon 2022.
Artist Statement: "I have always been interested in both the artistry and technical skill of typography and lettering, and decided to kick off the new Quilts Unscripted bee in June 2021 with a text-inspired prompt. My beemates helped me create this colorful, improv-pieced, modern take on an alphabet quilt. I love the mix of abstract, wonky, funky letters, and the bright, saturated color palette feels playful and happy. My mother (a former kindergarten teacher) apparently agreed, and has already requested that I send this quilt to her!"
