Aspen trees are a favorite of mine and I finally made myself a quilt showcasing them.
This quilt was made for a guild challenge. The challenge was to make a quilt inspired by page 22 of any magazine. The page I found was an article by Melody Johnson in Quilting Arts Magazine. Page 22 was a black and white drawing. There were shapes that made me think of leaves and also horizontal and vertical lines. I have always wanted to make an aspen tree quilt and the leaf shape triggered the creative process. I was able to use fabric from my stash and only needed to buy one spool of thread.
