Triple Sixty Star
Triple Sixty Star
This is the fifth of a series of 60 degree quilts I've been making that were inspired by the Feathered Star block.
The center of this quilt was made in 6 large diamond sections. I made a sample section first before making the quilt. The challenge was keeping the bias edges from stretching on the small triangles. (I rarely use starch, glue, or paper in any of my quilts, and always use a hot steam iron and oversized piecing techniques so I can square to perfection.) Since the units measured an even number on the sides, I marked the width they were supposed to be on the adjoining strip and was able to ease them to fit. I'm hoping to make another quilt like this, maybe in a smaller size, using different fabrics and have it custom quilted. The quilt was inspired by Marsha McCloskey's Triple Feathered Star.
