Third Spool's The Charm

Third Spool's The Charm

"Third Spool's The Charm" by Barbara Korengold won the Best Hand Workmanship Award at AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah 2025.Barbara hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand embroidered all of "Third Spool's The Charm" over a period of three years from start to finish, with the only thing applied by machine being the piping binding. The quilt takes its name from the fact that for the first time Barbara had to purchase a third spool of quilting thread, meaning she used more thread in this quilt than she's ever used in a quilt before. The designs were inspired by American coverlets, starting with the center and evolving from there. Quilting Method: Hand Quilting Technique: Appliqué (Hand), Binding Technique (Piped Edging), Embroidery (Hand), Piecing (Hand), Quilting (Hand)
