"The Nightingales" is Lesley Riley tribute to Florence Nightingale, "the founder of modern nursing," and other nurses.
All of the photos featured in The Nightingales are original photos from the Civil War of women who volunteered to be nurses during the time. Lesley wanted to recognize their contribution in helping others with this quilt, which featuring nurses' images from both the North and the South.
