This is my first Pet Portrait Quilt - I was trying to capture this certain look of my cat, Kaboodle.
My cat, Kaboodle, had certain stare that he would direct at us when he wanted something. I had never done a pet portrait and decided to try to capture that look in a small quilt. The quilt is based on a photo I took that captured that stare. Using the photo as a pattern, and mostly batik fabrics with a bit of grunge thrown in, I did this pet portrait with fused applique pieces and lots of thread painting. It was a great learning experience - both fun and frustrating! Seeing Barbara Yates Beasley's quilt, "Charlie," in the newsletter was what promted me to submit this little quilt photo to you.
