Artist Statement: "This quilt started with a bag of fabrics that were hand dyed by my friend, Gilbert Muniz. The idea for the title came to me first. I needed a layout to feature four sheep and came up with the big squares on point in the center and thought it would be great to add a sheep in each corner quadrant. I got a little OCD when quilting the final border. I knew I wanted to do pebble quilting with a variegated thread, but I didn't want to quilt over the white polka dots, so I used them as a guide and just quilted around them all! No white dots were harmed in the quilting process! I also quilted on the printed scroll fabric on the border with a variegated thread. No marking needed!"
Road to California 2017 Artist Statement:"I had to design this quilt after the title came to me first, while lying in bed one night. The color fabrics were all hand dyed by my very talented friend, Gilbert Muniz. it was originally going to be just a wall quilt, but it demanded to be bit larger. This is the 16th quilt in my alphabet quilt series."
Fun Fact: "This quilt was not supposed to be this big, but it kept nudging at me to keep adding borders!"
