Sunshine in the Pines by Laurie S. Early won First Place - Large Quilts: 1st Entry in an AQS Paducah Quilt Contest (Sponsored by Gammill¬Æ) at AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah 2025. Quilted by Paula Caldwell, Laurie's quilt uses Deborah Dorward's BOM pattern, also titled Sunshine in the Pines, as its design inspiration. With a combination of hand appliqué, hand piecing, and machine piecing, Laurie's work brings out the namesake "sunshine" in the design, which is on full display in the four eight-pointed stars, or suns, that surround the central plant design.
