"Star Fusion" was Janna Thomas' own challenge quilt that she created for herself.
Tasked with writing the course description for her next class, and putting it off until the night before, Janna was in a bit of a bind. So she wrote the description by pulling some techniques out of a hat and then incorporated those techniques into a quilt that she needed to build, hence the challenge part, which then became Star Fusion. The unintended benefit of doing this was Janna used pieced sashing in the quilt, which led her to write a book about sashing.
