A more modern take on an Amish tumbling blocks quilt. A compass rose crowns the stairway.
This quilt was inspired by a tumbling blocks quilt and I saw at the De Young Museum Amish Abstractions quilt exhibit in 2009. When I saw the traditional Amish tumbling blocks quilt, I knew I had to make it in rainbow batiks. The tumbling blocks are hand pieced. The compass rose ar the top is machine paper pieced. This quilt won best interpretation of the theme, Modern traditionalism, at PIQF in 2021.
