Spring
Spring
When Ricky visited Tina's guild and taught his kaleidoscope class, Tina was inspired and created her own version of his kaleidoscope quilt entitled Spring. When Tina shows off Spring at her trunk shows it is always a wow moment, with many viewers impressed by the fact that she took a class from Ricky and with what she did with his kaleidoscope pattern. Spring is featured in Ricky Tims' Kool Kaleidoscope Quilts book, and Ricky chose to feature it in the book due to its amazing border, which was made using Tina's strata leftovers.
Artist Statement: "I took Ricky's kaleidoscope class at the Glendale California Quilt Guild's annual quilt show in 2004. I loved watching as the quilts appeared to "bloom" all around us. We all added section upon section of our quilts to our design walls. Everyone oohed and aahed when they entered our classroom...and "Spring" still gets oohs and aahs! I used my strata leftovers in the border of my quilt. I even used them to make the sleeve on the back."
Ricky's Statement About Tina's Quilt: "Tina gives us another great example of how you can use leftover strata in a creative way to make a big statement with the border of your quilt. it may be necessary to make a bit extra if you plan to use it so generously; the leftovers may not be enough."
