Artist Statement: "At 10, the earnest and innocently expressive phenomenon of the "summer of love" helped mold my young spirit. Timely and reminiscent, this quilt recalls flower-powered dreams that war might end. Title is from "To Lay Me Down" (1970 Garcia/Hunter). Machine pieced from commercial and hand-dyed cottons, and machine quilted with cotton and silk threads and cotton batting."
