"Spangled" by Gail Stepanek and Jan Hutchison won Best of Show at the 2022 AQS QuiltWeek in Grand Rapids.
Artist Statement: "Gail paper pieced a typical Dahlia block with an additional line added to each petal, splitting it in half. She hand appliquéd the sashing dots. Fusible black glitter vinyl was used for the swag border and dots. Using heavyweight black thread, Jan mimicked the loopy border design in each pieced block. Contrasting black thread was also used in the outer border."
