Somewhere in Time Lunch With Dad

Somewhere in Time Lunch With Dad

Story quilt telling the story of a lunch date circa 1994 With my dad

This quilt tells the story of a beautiful Seattle day, my dad picked me up from the Seattle airport after I flew in from northern California. We had lunch in trendy Chinatown. The tie blocks represent my dad, who always wore a shirt and tie before he retired. The geese blocks symbolize the trip, as I had just arrived. The paper lantern blocks capture our wonderful lunch at a dim sum restaurant, and the whirligig corner blocks represent the yard decorations my dad bought me from street vendors on our walk back to the car. Finally, the beautiful blue borders evoke the memory of my dad singing, "There are no bluer skies than in Seattle," the entire hour-long ride home.
