So Many Small Things

So Many Small Things

"So Many Small Things" by Heidi Parkes won Second Place - Improvisation at QuiltCon 2025.

Artist Statement: "This Diary Quilt began with a desire for efficiency as I returned to machine piecing. The repetition of blue vs colorful squares mimics balancing computer work vs sewing time, and urgent vs important tasks. Strip piecing and 'pleats' (seams that are folded and sewn) are techniques that mirror the streamlining I've been eager to prioritize throughout 2024 in the royal blue studio of my Artist's Residency at the historic Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee."
