Riding the Thermals
Riding the Thermals
"Riding the Thermals" by Rose Hughes depicts ravens "out catching the morning thermals".
Artist Statement: "In our busy, hectic lives it is always calming for me to stop, watch the sun come up, the birds waking up, and breathe in cleansing air. While doing this there are many times when the local pair of ravens is out catching the morning thermals on the hill and riding and gliding, riding and gliding... reminding us of the bigger picture."
Techniques Used: "This piece was created with hand painted velveteen and silk fabric, stitched together using my own Fast-Piece Applique method. To this was added, machine quilting, machine couching, hand stitching and beads of all shapes and sizes."
