Red Galaxy
Red Galaxy
The highly active center star blocks are set off beautifully by more subdued blooming-nine-patch blocks in the border.
I love Blooning-nine-patch quilts, but could never make one. The same block made over and over would drive me crazy! So in this quilt I devised a way of using four in the center and finishing the quilt with them in the border. The partial use of tints in these blocks adds depth to the quilt. The simplicity of the turning star (an adaptation of Friendship Star) provides relief between the star blocks on either side of it.
Red Galaxy was raffled to provide funds for the School Sisters of Notre Dame African missions.
