Recrystallize

Recrystallize

"Recrystallize" by Iris Gowen was part of the "Rebound - Renew - Reimagine" at Houston 2025.

Artist Statement: "This quilt seeks to represent the process by which molecules rearrange and reorganize. Established elements may dissolve into a state of instability and chaos, but, as conditions allow, they reassemble into an even more solid and lasting formation. From the bottom, colors separate and progress through Crazy quilt geometries into differential crystals at the top."

Techniques: Hand Piecing; Machine Piecing and Quilting

Design Source: Original Design; Crazy quilts and Baby Block patterns are featured in the design

About the Rebound - Renew - Reimagine Exhibit: "This exhibit features 19 new works that celebrate a return to pre-Covid life, rebounding from restrictions that limited personal contact and renewing activities that were not possible during the pandemic. Each quilt is defined by a title beginning with "re." Meditations on personal memories or emotions inspired some artists, while others used solitude to contemplate color, texture, or process."
