Really 'Wild' Flowers! Fourth Season

Really 'Wild' Flowers! Fourth Season

Really 'Wild' Flowers! Fourth Season by Sharon Schlotzhauer won Honorable Mention - Other at Road to California 2024.

Road to California 2024 Artist Statement: "Fourth and final quilt in my whimsical and very dimensional, "Really 'Wild' Flowers!" series. The most complex quilt I've made to date. A playful garden scene of 'wild' (as in crazy, fanciful, imaginative) flowers, arches, and butterflies. Designed to be bright and joyful! Some of the flowers have what I call, "open centers." Others are layered and appliqued as are the butterflies. Adorned with Swarovski crystals, beads, buttons, metal charms."

Artist Statement: "The fourth in my whimsical, "Really 'Wild' Flowers!" series and the most complex quilt I've made to this point. I never could convince myself to replicate my "Really 'Wild' Flowers! Second Season" piece but finally decided I'd design one with some similar design elements and colors. I created many unique flowers of different shapes and sizes and added dimensional butterflies and hearts, among other things.

Construction methods include machine piecing, machine, fused, and hand applique, paper piecing, and machine quilting. Embellished with Swarovski crystals, beads, buttons, and metal charms.
