Silk and polyester ties machine zigzagged onto a whole cloth background.
A friend gave me her husband's ties after he died. some time later, in a continuing fight with cancer, she was given 6-12 months to live. I put together the quilt and had all her friends at church sign it. Then she took it to the local cancer center and had all the people there sign it also! Her daughter was the one who always picked out ties when he went to work, so she got the quilt when my friend passed away. I also made pillows with the other ends of the ties, and these now belong to her granddaughters.
Of all the quilts I've made, this is the one I'm the proudest of.
