Sandra Leichner
Pharaoh
Pharaoh
"Pharaoh" was Sandra Leichner's second appliqué that she made in her quilting career.
At the time, Pharaoh was a great undertaking for Sandra to take on, but she persevered and finished it because she wanted the accomplishment of completing it. The subject matter was very enticing to Sandra, who had a strong interest in Egyptology and her parents having visited Egypt as well. The quilt was completed in 2002, with Sandra only beginning her quilting career in 2000, and has won numerous awards since. Each quilt is personal for Sandra, with every one being sparked by someone in her life. Pharaoh was inspired by her parents, and made as a way to honor her grandfather who passed away before it was finished.
