Petrified
Petrified
Petrified by June Jaeger was influenced by Rosalie Dace and a frozen bucket of water.
Artist Statement: "Influenced by my life, petrified wood, and a bucket of frozen water, I chose a pallet which was foreign to me. I have been a realest focusing on detail. Branching out and becoming freer with this piece was difficult but rewarding. Through the use of hand dyed and batik fabric it was fun to see the radiation develop. The circle represents my life with a lot of jigs and jags."
Techniques: I combined machine piecing, hand appliqué, and fusible appliqué. Using long running stitches I quilted the circles then machine quilted the overall image.
Materials: I used a lot of my hand dyed fabrics as well as batiks and a few regular cottons. The batting is 100% cotton and the threads are cotton blends.
