Persistence

Persistence

"Persistence" by Barbara Black features a hand pieced mariner's compass center and took her thirteen years to finish.

Persistence is a very early quilt from Barbara Black that was influenced by Jinny Beyer's award-winning quilt, Ray of Light, which won the Good Housekeeping and U.S. Historical Society contest, "The Great American Quilt", in 1976. Aptly named because she started it in 1990 and did not finish it until 2003, Barbara took it upon herself to hand piece the center mariner's compass and use her own marble-dyed fabrics.
