Pastors Double Square

This is a church album quilt, congregation signed in white background, fabric "At Home". It is modern farmhouse cotton.

This quilt pattern is called Double Square and it was found on YouTube on a MSQC Tutorial for 10" squares. I used Moda "At Home" fabric.

I was sewing this for myself and heard that my Pastor Reggie Weems was commemorating his 30 years of service at our church. I was moved to make this into an Albumn Quilt for him and his wife Teana. I made each square that consists of sewing 4 squares together and the congregation members used permanent markers to sign the white parts. I was able to find quite by accident "sheep" fabric for the back- sheep representing us church members! I then used my embroidery machine to embroider a specific label for the back, a picture of Jesus shepharding sheep with a good shephard scripture, along with the usual label information for the back. The quilt is machine pieced and quilted on my longarm. It was presented to the couple at church as a surprise on Sunday before the sermon. They were extremely surprised and grateful and they call it "A Treasure". The wife saying sweetly: "No one has ever made us a quilt before and we will cherish it. I hope to hang it on the wall." There was so much appreciation from them and joy and also from the congregation. I felt so much joy in creating this and giving it away! I recommend this album-quilt idea to anyone!
