"Ode to Gwen JOY Marston" was made by Marge Tucker as a tribute to Gwen Marston, who's middle name was Joy.
Marge had taken classes and workshops from Gwen, and the fabric pieces used in the center of Ode to Gwen JOY Marston are from a box of rectangles that Gwen sent to her. Marge saved those pieces for a long time, knowing they were meant for a special project. When she learned that Gwen had passed in April 2019, Marge remembered that box and began to cut those rectangles into improvisational triangles, which was a technique Gwen showed her how to do, and began to make this quilt.
