My Memories of Japan

My Memories of Japan

Many Japanese fabrics make up the circles and squares in this golden quilt.

After visiting Japan in the Summer of 2007, Josephine felt compelled to make a Japanese quilt with the many fabrics Japanese friends had given her and others from her stash. Nine of the hand appliqued circles have symbols she sketched during the trip now machine appliqued in the centers. The border is an original design Jo constructed from the fabric cut from behind the circles.

This quilt was raffled in 2009 to raise funds for the new addition needed for the formation house of the postulants of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Kenya.
