This is a large-scale appliqué piece with amazing custom quilting.
A couple years back, I was determined to get over my fear of appliqué (or FOA) by taking on some challenging projects. My Button Basket was a block of the month quilt that that I completed in finished edge, hand appliqué. It is about 90% hand pieced as well. The batiks and color choices are my own to try to match what I saw in my mind when I looked at the pattern.
The custom long arm machine quilting was done by a new-ish quilter who had quilted a couple all-over design quilts for me. Wendy had never done a quilt like this and was willing to take it on. When I first saw it hanging in her studio, her work took my breath away and made me joyful.
