My Blue Ridge Home
My quilt guild, The Blue Ridge Quilter's Guild, challenged us to make a quilt to celebrate our 40th anniversary. The quilt needed to have either gladiolas or nasturtiums, contain the color ruby and have something that represented "40". When I saw this year's BOM, I thought it would be perfect since it included gladiolas. I decided that the "40" would be represented by my 40 year old fabric stash; all the fabric used was from that. The center of the quilt is Sarah's pattern. I added the outside border depicting the Blue Ridge Mountains and my favorite dragonflies. This is my first applique quilt. The applique is all needleturn. I did the quilting on my longarm. Double batted, wool over 80/20. Monofilament thread was used to ditch around applique, 100wt thread used for all other quilting.
