I created this little quilt from my hand dyed fabrics, and a few fussy cut prints to represent the many moons of Saturn.
I read that the planet Saturn has 276 moons! I wanted to create quilt that would represent that. The"moons'" are machine appliqued circles that I made using Mary Kaye Buckleys perfect circle tool and my own hand dyed fabric, plus a few fussy cut prints that I thought represented moon-ness. I decided to do only horizontal sashing and echoed that with straight line quilting over the whole surface then added a row of half moons for the finish. The back is also pieced and some of the moons are back there.
