Midnight & Noon

Midnight & Noon

"Midnight & Noon" by Lauren Klementz-Harte won Best Hand Quilting at QuiltCon 2026.

Artist Statement: "In deep darkness we only see illuminated shapes, but inherently know there is more there. Full light uncovers what was always present, yet details still go unnoticed. Subtle minutiae that bring texture and interest to everyday life can often be unappreciated, overlooked, ignored. The quilting on this piece was informed by overlapping the front and back compositions. The contours influenced each other. New features emerged, inviting a close look, inviting more observation of midnight & noon."

Techniques Used: Hand Appliqué, Hand Embroidered, Hand Quilted Double Sided Each Composition, Improvised Hanging Sleeve (Incorporated into Faced Binding for Unobstructed View of Both Sides), Label tucks into sleeve out of sight

Materials Used: Cotton Solids, Needle Punched Cotton Batting. Embroidery Floss
