Mexican Bean Beetle
Mexican Bean Beetle
"Mexican Bean Beetle" by Beth Cunningham features a framed embroidered bug of the beetle variety.Beth's "Mexican Bean Beetle" piece was created from carefully examining a Mexican Bean Beetle, scientific name: Cerotexa, in real life and getting its features just right. One such feature that had to be perfect, because that's the one that lets you know it's a Mexican Bean Beetle, are the bug's little antlers which feature a distinct u-shape on each end. Like Beth's other insect pieces, it is housed in a glass frame, and was made using a combination of embroidery, appliqué, beading, and trapunto.
