Artist Statement: "The inspiration for this quilt comes from a magnificent hibiscus flower right outside my villa in Bali. I saw it every day as I came and went. When I think of the lush foliage of Bali, this is the flower that comes to mind first The background is a silk blend, and the batiks used in the raw-edge reverse appliqué hibiscus are some that I designed and made in Java and picked up on my travels through Indonesia. This quilt is third in a series."
