"Marilyn and Andy"was created by Bethanne for a traditional guild challenge where you are provided a piece of fabric and need to incorporate it into the quilt you are making. The other design rule for making thequilt, besides the fabric, was that it needed to have a star in it. Naturally, Bethanne chose one of the biggest stars she could think of, Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. The quilt envisions Marilyn in three colorful portraits à la Andy Warhol, hence the name "Marilyn and Andy". However, Bethanne's quilt was disqualified from the challenge as she did not feature a "star" in the most literal sense.
