Mardi Gras - Created for the Challenge at the Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge with the subject "Occassions". Two fabrics given, one Gradations of primary colors and the check. The Face is hand painted with various techniques used to create the rest of the quilt. Those including free motion embroidery, trapunto, machine quilting and fabric painting. She won first place for the Challenge. I had very mixed emotions because it was a purchase award. I got very attached to her given that this was the first attempt I had made at painting a face. So now she hangs in the Welcome Center for the Tourist Department in Pigeon Forge, TN.
