Lorel's Quilt is made with the t-shirts and pictures from 4 years of college Volleyball. Team signatures are on the back!
Lorel wanted the quilt in her school colors; black and yellow/gold with white accents with pictures and t-shirts. I started collecting black fabrics that had touches of yellow or gold and also found the Stonehenge fabric in rich yellows and golds. The next step was to find a few pictures to include of Lorel and her team mates and of her playing volleyball in the uniforms to be used for the quilt. The design space was measured out to help with the design process and establish the rows and columns. Once the layout of the shirts was finalized each shirt was partnered with a fabric and then checked with the overall design of the quilt. I wanted to balance the color across the quilt. Her full shirts with signatures from the team were used on the back.
