Jinny Beyer
Lone Star
Lone Star
The famous Jinny Beyer 's work has inspired me for a very long time. I bought the pattern and fabric from her.
This quilt took me a very long time to make. This quilt required a specific technique using piecing and machine quilting (domestic). Each and every piece was cut and quilted individually. This was the most intricate and technically challenging work I have ever done, as each piece had to be cut and put together meticulously in order to maintain the symmetry and geometry of the star pattern. The flower motifs in the four corners of the quilt are appliqué.
I chose this specific pattern because the colors reminded me of the way stars twinkle in the sky. The bright blues, greens, and yellows, against the dark background emphasizes the brightness of the colors.
I presented this quilt in the Kenya Quilt Guild show where it received the first prize and viewers choice awards.
