Juliette was Jaymi's mother's Cornish Rex cat. The cat was cherished by Jaymi's mom more than anything, while everyone else didn't like it as much. Still, Jaymi wanted to make something that her mother would love and appreciate, and created the pattern for "Juliette"based off of a photo of the cat. In the end, while the cat as not loved much by Jaymi, the quilt that it inspired was much loved instead.
