This was created for the Hoffman Challenge, using the fabric required. Because of covid 19 , it did not travel.
The scene depicted is a compliation of memories from a family vacation to Italy during the summer before covid started. This was made for the Hoffman Challenge in 2020, but was only on line as the show did not travel. It took about 5 months from original design to completion.
My process is a mix of trial and error, substituting, moving, adjusting, and auditioning fabrics until both the design and the colors felt right. We had the great fortune to visit Capri and the Amalfi coast, a castle in Sicily,Rome, and many museums. It was a memorable trip that will inspire so many quilts in the future.
