Walking the halls of the Tacoma General Hospital, while I was a patient, I came to a wonderful large tile mosaic and carving by Alex McCarty and Toms Royal from the Makah NW Indian tribe in Neah Bay, WA. I loved the art and kept it in my memory. I found it inspirational. When the International Miniature Quilt Exchange was started by “The Quilt Show”, I thought it was a perfect piece of art to share with my partner in England. The figures represent the wolf, the raven, the salmon and the sun. These figures have great significance in the Indian cultures. Unfortunately my partner withdrew from the exchange so I was unable to enter the contest. I had a great deal of enjoyment making this miniature quilt and I love it. The good news is since my quilt partner withdrew, I don’t have to part with it so I am sharing it in the gallery.
The quilt is 18 x 24 inches and is applique with free motion Quilting. It has a small ammount of machine embroidery and some crystals as embelishment.
