This pair of free-motion machine yarn-couched cockatoos come to roost on an improvisationally-pieced background that hints at their home in the Three Sisters gorge in South Australia, a rainforest with distant waterfalls. The dense quilting motifs hint at the forest structures, like trees shimmering filtered light or the rich earth, without being representational. The border quilting hints at Abroiginal art motifs.
