Stunning mandalas amongst sashing's of flying geese
Started in 2022 as a block of the month by designer Rachelle Denney this quilt introduced me to another style of applique using speciality paper which dissolves or softens when washed. The mandalas are formed piece by piece and construced before being appliqued onto the backing fabric. I really enjoyed all the fussy cutting of fabric designs and inserting pieces of interest like all the animals peeping from different areas. I completed the 18-1/2" blocks with foundation pieced flying geese sashings and quilted using Monica Poole's 3 to 1 method of Quilt As You Go. This queen sized quilt was a gift for my nephew for his 40th Birthday .
