Going Up?
Going Up?
Applique constructed quilt with top-stitched embellishment. Art Deco Elevator, original block and quilt
I designed this elongated block that I call "the Scroll" and have been having a very good time with it. It is constructed via a hybrid technique, part Caryl Fallert-Gentry, part Philippa Naylor, part me. It entails fusible paper, eye-balled 1/4" seams, Glue-Baste-It, turned edges and small top-stitching at the very edge of the folds. I did the original design on EQ7, pieced and appliqued then quilted it. I stood in front of it at the Minnesota Quilt Show and knew it wasn't done. So I came home and top-stitched all the metallic gold and black bias tape that emphasizes its' Art Deco Elevator character. Quilted on my Millie long-arm with Glide, Bottom Line and Hobbs 80/20.
