"Floral Symphony No. 2" by Mariya Waters won Best Stationary Machine Workmanship at AQS QuiltWeek Daytona 2024.
Artist Statement: "This quilt has its roots in my extensive collection of Eastern European embroidery flower shapes. It was begun in 2016 and totally remade in 2020-2023 following an issue with a longarm quilter. This time, I quilted it myself in sections using the quilt-as-you-go method. The appliqué is my whole-unit method, which meant I could recover the appliqué shapes from the original quilt. All the flowers were cut from ombre batiks."
