Fireworks Convergence

Fireworks Convergence

Convergence quilt wallhanging turned into a quilt.

This quilt started when I took Ricky Tim's Convergence class last fall. I have learned when taking a class to use scrapes or fabrics that have turned out to not be my favorites. I was extremely pleased with how the not so favorite fabric worked in this project. I loved the technique and how the project turned out. I was involved in a project to present all the veterans in my church with a Quilt of Valor. It took a few weeks to decide exactly how to add to the wall hanging so it would become a quilt. I made 2 more almost "wall hangings" and played with the layout. Once settling on the layout it was just a matter of sewing it together.

A special note, I had a specific veteran in mind when making the quilt. The receipient was a former student of mine, a member of a scout troop I led and a friend of my daughter. I watched her grow up from around age 5. She spent a short time in the US Marines and upon discharge became a firefighter. She became the first woman firefighter to attain the rank of lieutenant in her department and was recently named the Firefighter of the Year.
