"FieStar" by Cyndi McChesney won a Purple Ribbon for Exceptional Merit at the Vermont Quilt Festival 2021.
Artist Statement: "Ricky challenged me to make a quilt to enter into a competition during last summer's lock down. I created this bright and colorful, happy quilt trying some techniques and design ideas I had had brewing for a number of years. First up was the spiral Lone Star - always wanted to try one of those. Next was to do miniature traditional star blocks inside of circles in the setting squares. I went further with the colorful border outside of those setting squares and finished off the patchwork with Prairie Points. When the top was done, it reminded me of a Fiesta. The quilting was my challenge to myself - to do as much fill and interesting texture as possible. The result - FieStar!"
